Terms of Service — Legacy Storyteller Kit
Effective date: September 2, 2026
A Wisdom Talks project
1. Who operates the Service
Legacy Storyteller Kit is operated by Althea Cooper, an individual sole proprietor based in Georgia, United States. The Service is presented under the Wisdom Talks brand. Wisdom Talks is a brand name only and is not a separate legal entity.
By creating an account or using Legacy Storyteller Kit (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Questions may be sent to wisdomtalks.org@gmail.com.
2. Description of the Service
Legacy Storyteller Kit lets members create profiles for the people whose stories they want to keep, record or upload interview audio, receive AI-generated transcripts, type answers directly, add photographs and documents, and generate a keepsake narrative that can be read, printed, downloaded and exported.
3. Eligibility and age
- The account owner must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. The account and the paid subscription must be controlled by that adult.
- The person featured in a story may be any age.
- If the person featured is under 18, you must have permission from their parent or legal guardian before recording or preserving their story.
- The Service is intended for personal, family use.
4. Subscription and billing
- Membership costs $7.00 USD per month. There is no tiered pricing.
- There is no free trial. Billing begins immediately upon subscribing and renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Billing is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- We may change the subscription price with 30 days' advance notice to active members.
5. Cancellation and read-only access
- You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.
- You keep full paid access through that date.
- No prorated refunds are provided for partial monthly billing periods.
- After paid access ends, the account becomes read-only.
- Read-only members may sign in, view, download and export preserved content, and may delete the account.
- Read-only members may not create new people, sessions, recordings, typed answers, photographs or documents, and may not edit existing stories or attachment information.
- Reactivating the membership restores creating and editing.
- Preserved content remains available until you delete the account or the Legacy Storyteller Kit service closes. Cancelled content is not automatically deleted.
If the Service is ever scheduled to close, we will give members at least 60 days' advance notice and export access whenever reasonably possible.
6. Media storage allowance
- Each membership includes 2 GB of private media storage, which applies to original audio recordings, photographs and documents.
- Transcripts, typed answers, keepsake text and the compressed thumbnails we generate do not count against your allowance.
- Unlimited people and unlimited interview sessions do not mean unlimited media storage.
- When the allowance is full, new recordings and uploads are refused. Typed answers keep working, and viewing, downloading, exporting and account deletion are never blocked. Removing media frees space again.
7. Account deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the app, including while your account is read-only. Deletion is confirmed first, disables the account immediately, and can be reversed during a seven-day recovery period. After that period a scheduled server-side process securely deletes your member-generated content. See our Privacy Policy for full detail, including backup expiration and the limited records we must retain.
8. Your responsibility for permission
You are solely responsible for obtaining the informed permission of any person you record, photograph, or whose documents you upload, including telling them the conversation is being recorded and that it will be processed using third-party transcription and AI tools. You agree to stop recording, skip content, or delete an interview if that person asks you to. Where the person is under 18, permission must come from their parent or legal guardian.
You represent that you have the legal right, under applicable recording-consent laws in your jurisdiction, to make the recordings you create and to upload the photographs and documents you add.
9. Your content
- You retain ownership of the audio, photographs, documents, transcripts, typed answers and keepsake content created in your account ("Your Content").
- You grant us a limited license to store, process and transmit Your Content solely as necessary to provide the Service, including sending it to the processors described in our Privacy Policy.
- We do not claim ownership over Your Content and do not use it for purposes beyond operating the Service for you.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Record or preserve someone's story without their knowledge or permission, or a minor's story without guardian permission
- Upload content you do not have the right to upload
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or misuse the Service or its underlying infrastructure
- Violate any applicable law
11. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers to function — currently Deepgram for transcription, Anthropic's Claude API for keepsake narrative generation, Lovable Cloud / Supabase for hosting, database and storage, and Stripe for payment processing. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or changes in these providers' services, though we will make reasonable efforts to address significant disruptions.
12. AI-generated content
Transcripts and keepsake narratives are generated by AI and may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing generated content for accuracy, particularly given the emotional and historical significance of the material. Transcripts and stories can be edited in the app while your membership allows editing, and the original verbatim transcription is preserved alongside your corrections.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that AI-generated transcripts or keepsake content will be perfectly accurate.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Althea Cooper shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data.
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from within the app; see our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data upon deletion.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
